60 Sec Confidence Building – Abandonment

In His last days Jesus was abandoned by those closest to Him. Peter denied Him, Judas betrayed Him and the rest of the disciples ran away.  How must He have felt?

 CrossOfRejection

We can get abandoned by those closest to us like Jesus was.  Jesus was abandoned yet that time was His greatest hour.  He went through the greatest suffering.  Out of this abandonment was the greatest work ever known to mankind.

Rather than look at abandonment as rejection, sometimes we should see it as being left alone.  Jacob was left alone when the Angel of the Lord met him  (see Genesis 32:22-30).  That moment was to be a turning point in Jacob’s life.  It was at the time, his name was changed from Jacob meaning swindler to Israel meaning ‘prince with God’.  What a transformational change!  Today, we have the nation of Israel that came from this one man, just because he was left alone.

When we are left alone may be when we get God’s attention.  It could be one of your greatest defining moments.

Have you ever felt abandoned?  How did you react to it?  Please share in the comments below.  Happy Easter!
