Faith For Now, Hope For The Future

Someone once said hope is the oxygen of the soul. The Bible lets us know of three things that are eternal – Faith, Hope and Love.

#1 Faith

We all have faith for something. That is what keeps us going. When it is faith in the wrong person or thing we end up with disasters. Putting our faith in the one who is unchangeable , God, means we have the perfect standard.

#2 Hope

Hope is positive expectation for the future. It is an expectation of what we propose. A conviction that the future will bring that which we expect to be regardless of the present circumstances. We can not hope in that which we know is certain, therefore their must always be an element of faith in any hope that is expressed.

#3 Love

The Greek have three types of love which have been translated for us in the Bible. They have brotherly love, romantic love and sacrificial love.. Brotherly love, phileo, is one that shares what is available.   Romantic love focuses on the emotions of the one that is showing it. Romantic love is a possessive type of love. It is affected greatly by the response of the one to whom it is shown.   Sacrificial love, agape, gives all what it has without expecting a reward from the person to whom it is without keeping anything back and being totally concerned for the well being of the person to whom it is given.

Sacrificial love is the God kind of love. The Bible lets us know that God sent His only Begotten Son, His Word formed in a human womb in a Human body while we were yet sinners as a sacrifice for the atonement of the sins of mankind. A man had to bear the punishment for men.
