Successfully staying off Medication

So my story continues…the one how I weaned and stayed off medication successfully…

You must understand this is no ‘ride in the park’ feat and again I emphasise that it is not a decision you take at the spur of the moment.

Medication for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder does not cure the condition but provides a mechanism for those diagnosed to carry out life’s activities within society.  It is easy to believe that one is doing fine or even well whilst on medication.  This feeling often propels people to come off the medication prematurely themselves.

Self-will is not the focus and should not be the focus in coming off psychiatric drugs.  If it is, it is only a matter of time before you end up back on medication again…ill!

There must instead be a focus on building and maintaining your faith continually to take that leap of faith in staying of medication.

As we are dealing with  diseases of the mind, it becomes essential that what is let into the mind is only what nourishes it and helps ensure that old symptoms don’t re-establish themselves.

1.    You are what you hear

Faith comes by hearing…
Faith has to do with what is let into the mind. We are what we take in.   Just like food, we are what we eat; in the case of faith, we are what we hear.  Disciplining yourself to only focus on what you hear helps you improve, make recovery and progress more rapid
.  When you hear positive things like my testimony for example, hope comes.  With hope sown, faith germinates.

2. You are what you hear… again!

Faith comes by…and hearing by the word of God.
The Word of God has to be heard and continually heard.
The Word of  God will tell you ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.  The Word of God will not knock you down but build you up.  The Word of God will get into your spirit and build your spirit up.  Your spirit is the contol tower…hey we will talk about that another time (before I digress!).

3. How do you hear?

How you hear is also important.  Two people can hear the same thing but each reacts differently. One can hear with skeptism or doubt, another can hear wholeheartedly.  The best way to hear is with a prepared heart…and a sieve.  Keep the good bits and throw away the chaff.

To be continued…
