Thank you – The Power of Gratitude

“Thank you” is a simple, yet powerful, expression of gratitude. Expressing appreciation creates an atmosphere for more giving.

Some people are so focused on their needs or expectations they neglect this powerful expression.Thank you - The Power of GratitudeSaying “thank you” magnifies in me  the satisfaction the gift or service I have received. On the other hand, when I receive thanks for even the simplest task I perform I am motivated to do even more.  A cycle of gratitude is initiated. Like a dynamo, this cycle feeds on itself.

On reflection, when I was challenged with mental illness I rarely expressed appreciation for what others did for me. It can be a bit of a chicken and egg situation.  We are moulded by what we express, yet our expression is often driven by our feelings are at moments in time.

Not expressing gratitude is often a sad sign of being overwhelmed with circumstances. Of course, it may come from some quirk of character, but they all indicate a pre-occupation with self.

Zoe says she has hardly come across people as grateful as she has observed me to be recently. I have come to appreciate everything that has been done for me as a gift.

Gratitude  attracts gratitude bringing about a positive cycle of relationship. People have gone the extra mile for me when I regularly express gratitude. I am encouraged to go further for others who express gratitude.

I have observed those who don’t express gratitude come across as arrogant. Even what the action is obligatory, expressing your gratitude delivers returns.

Gratitude yields great dividends.
