Facts of life we must get over (Not everyone will be your friend)

There are certain facts of life that we got to either expect and/or accept in order to protect our emotional and mental health.

#1 Not everyone is going to like you

Some people will just not realise or appreciate your value. Some choose not to.

Some are dealing with issues with themselves which prevents them from embracing and liking you as a person.

Some don’t even know you but immediately build up a preconceived distorted view of you which they hold on to.

Best advice: take the higher ground. Light drives out darkness. Respond to them with respect and kindness. And compassion!

#2 Not everyone will be grateful or show appreciation for your kindness

We all have this story to tell. Perhaps we are even guilty ourselves. Sometimes people simply do not think to be grateful, take your kindness for granted or forget. Some it is just not their nature to say Thank You!

#3 Not everyone will support you or celebrate your success journey

Jealousy, envy are likely symptoms. Keep moving forward. The only way to deal with your critics is to keep going till you attain your goals.

One advantage however of negative people is that they will give you ideas on why your project or goal wont work. They are your fool proof testers. So please embrace them!

One advantage of lazy people criticising you is that they can show you a quicker way of doing complicated things that you had not thought of!

#4 Not everyone will be there for you in challenging times

Fact!  Some will flee for dust.  You will turn around, and they are not there.  Be grateful for the one that stays or the one that comes along.  There will surely be a good Samaritan.  They always appear when others have abandoned you.  So hold on!

#5 Not everyone will hang around you to reach your destination

Some people come into our lives for a season.  Some for a reason.  The minority will be there till you get to your destination.

Learn to distinguish who belongs where.  And when it is time to say goodbye, or move on, it will be less traumatic.

#6 Some may betray you

There has to be at least one Judas in your lifetime. Judas hung around with Jesus for just three years and betrayed Jesus with a kiss. The betrayers will emerge the longer you live. Dont mourn for them!

#7 Not everyone will understand you

People do not have to understand your journey, mission, vision, choices and so on.

Granted we may make poor choices, but ultimately, the final choice is ours. When we exert our will on others it becomes a slippery slope of control and manipulation

We must learn to:

  • Accept these facts
  • Expect these things
  • Release people when it is time to move on
  • Forgive!

You could be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there is still going to be someone who hates peaches!
