History Lessons – People Of The Book

Moses started the book of the Law with the ten commandments on tablets of stone establishing the relationship between God and His chosen people.  The Scribes then built on the writings of Moses to produce the Torah that sets the code of conduct for Judaism.

When Jesus walked the earth He lived under the law of Moses. After His resurrection,  a new dispensation began with Christianity.  With the conversion of Emperor Constantine the weight of the state was brought to bear in conversion to Christianity.  The Holy Spirit does not force anyone therefore Emperor Constantine’s efforts brought about corruption of the faith with people mixing pagan beliefs with Christianity.

By the Middle Ages in Europe only the priests were permitted to read the Bible. Prophet Muhammed had contact with Jews as he had a Jewish wife and with Christians as he wrote about Jesus in the Qu’ran.  When he was driven out of Mecca and regrouped with his followers his method of conversion to Islam became by force of conquest.

Yet he forbade his followers from applying the principle of “convert or die” to the people of the book (Jews and Christians).  He required them to be respected and allowed to continue their practice of worship.  Hence Christianity and Judaism survived in the lands conquered by the muslims.   The muslims made advances in the sciences and mathematics that are integral to the sciences today. Focus and brotherhood had yielded the results  that were always associated with it.

Then came the crusades after the muslim advance into Europe was halted in Spain.  The Lord said He would not dwell in buildings but in the hearts of men yet the crusaders had a fixation of liberating Jerusalem from the muslims.

The middle ages birthed anti-Semitism in Europe with Jews being attacked for crucifying Jesus.  Once again satan’s work was being effectively done for him by religious people. Strife opens the floodgates for the works of satan.

How much of your life today is affected by these events discussed above?
